The Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Division (ATCD) is responsible for apprenticeship training and certification programs in Newfoundland and Labrador for individuals pursuing a career in the skilled trades.
The apprenticeship training system combines approximately 80% of on-the-job training and 20% of in-school training, allowing apprentices to gain the skills and knowledge needed to become qualified and certified journeypersons. In many cases, apprentices alternate between in-school training and paid on-the-job training, allowing them to earn money while they learn!
